Joanne, RECE (no photo available)
My name is Joanne. I graduated from Conestoga College with a diploma in Early Childhood Education in April 2012. I started working at CCCCG in June 2014 as a supply staff and then in September 2014 I began working regular hours: first as a teaching assistant and then as a full time staff.
Prior to working at CCCCG, I spent a fair amount of time supplying in various child care centres in Guelph and Waterloo, and I have also had a few short term contract positions as well. Through working with a variety of age groups, I have discovered a love, specifically, for the toddler age group. So I am very excited to be working with toddlers now. They each have unique ways of looking at the world. I am often amazed at what children say when questions are posed to them; they often surprise me with the connections that they make through their experiences. I enjoy getting to know each of the children individually and finding ways of connecting with them. I am looking forward to continually learning from the children and helping to facilitate their learning.
Mary Jane - RECE
Hi I’m Mary Jane Visser. I have a degree in Child Studies from the University of Guelph and in Education from Nipissing University. I have worked in the Early Years field for over 30 years in several daycare programs and at Ontario Early Years.
I started at CCCCG in September 2015 as a supply staff working with all age groups. I was a TA in Preschool 1 and Toddler Green and am currently a full time teacher in Toddler Green.
While I enjoy working with children of various ages I really enjoy being with toddlers. I love being with children and find I learn every day from them, their families and co-workers. This is my life’s work where I am the best that I can be; experiencing joy, discovery, belonging and more.
I am a mom of a young adult. I enjoy reading, knitting, gardening, being in nature and travelling to experience people, places and cultures.
Erin - RECE
Hello, my name is Erin. In 2007 I graduated from the University of Guelph with a BA for the Dramatic Arts honours program. While there I worked at the Brass Taps and discovered a love of cooking and have worked at several restaurants around Guelph since.
After the birth of my twins in 2016, I decided it was time for a career change and eventually began studying for my degree in Early Childhood Education through St. Lawrence (which I finished in 2020).
Watching children explore, experiment, learn and develop skills is fascinating to me. I see children as little scientists who are trying new things, making hypotheses and taking actions based on their observations.
I like to use my experience in drama to promote play in the dramatic play area and support reading and language. I enjoy the outdoors including camping, canoeing and hiking, music and baking. Whenever I can, I like to share those interests with the children to build relationships and promote development.
After doing some supply work at centres I completed placements at, I started at CCCCG on a regular basis. I’ve been spending most of my time in the toddler green room and I’m excited to be here. I look forward to continuously learning from the children and experiences of coworkers.
